Vented fireplaces use a chimney or venting system to exhaust gases outside the home. Vent-free fireplaces do not use exterior venting, but rather pull air from the room and allow exhaust byproducts back into the room. Vent-free applainces are NOT allowed in our area and we will NEVER service or install them as theya re considered a health risk at higher levations and are not allowed in our service areas per code.

For solid-fuel applainces, it is recommended to service them at the end of the burn season so that the creosote does not have time to start hardening onto the flue system (known as glazing) as glazed creosote can be a potential fire hazard and be more difficult and costly to completely remove.
